Description

HiTechnic SuperPro Solderable Extension

Introduction

The HiTechnic SuperPro Solderable Extension connects to the HiTechnic SuperPro Prototype Board (SPR2010) and is a perfect platform for creating custom electronic circuits.
The SuperPro Solderable Extension can attach to the HiTechnic SuperPro Prototype Board in two different ways, permanently by soldering the prototype board pins to the Extension, or by using the supplied header, allowing the Solderable Extension board to be removed.

Permanent Attachment

The pins underneath the SuperPro Prototype Board can be soldered permanently to the mounting holes along the left edge of the Solderable Extension Add-On board.

(Note that images show the old HiTechnic Prototype Board)

Ensure you apply both the solder and the soldering iron to the pin at the same time to make sure you create a nicely formed solder joint for each pin. After all the pins have been soldered, snip off the excess pin material using a sharp pair of diagonal cutters.

(This image shows the old HiTechnic Prototype Board) The attached Solderable Extension board can now be used to mount and connect the required electronics and other components.

Removable Attachment

If you do not wish to permanently solder to the pins underneath the SuperPro Prototype Board, you can attach the supplied connector to the SuperPro Solderable Extension board so that the two boards can be separated if required. Mount the connector on the top side of the Extension board, soldering it in place underneath. The Extension board can now be easily attached and detached from the SuperPro Prototype Board. When attaching the two boards together, ensure that the printing on each board, indicating which signal is which, is properly aligned.

Caution

The Prototype sensor and electronic components used to create circuits may be damaged by static discharge so care must be taken when handling the prototype board and components to avoid static.
